Here’s To Our Dads! Celebrate with Bodylogix!
In this week’s post, we are raising a glass (or shaker cup!) to dads. To the men who have taught us how to reel in a fish, wield an axe and climb trees. They often push us to take more risks, let go of the rope, push past can’t.
Without stereotyping, dads are generally the heavy lifters, the load bearers, the protectors. This weekend it’s time to take over the grill or mow the lawn. It’s time for some zip lining, white water rafting, mountain biking. It’s a day to honour all that is rugged and rough, like tree bark and whiskers.
Sea Horse Dads
Italian novelist, Umberto Eco said, “I believe that what we become depends on what our fathers teach us at odd moments, when they aren’t trying to teach us. We are formed by little scraps of wisdom.”
Take the sea horse for example, the male has a pouch in which the female sea horse lays her eggs. The father then looks after the eggs for about two months, until they hatch and leave the pouch. He continues to protect the young until they are able to live on their own. #dadfacts #truth #toughasaseahorse
So whether you just hopped out of the pouch or have long been heavy lifting life on your own, dads are the people in our lives who just know things, like quirky jokes and what to do with a spud wrench. They are the wearer of ties, the golfers and the lumberjacks.
According to Stats Canada, there are about 8.6 million dads in Canada, including biological, adoptive and step fathers.
So pick up the pig skin or pull out your clubs; infuse more fun and unplanned adventure into this Sunday, than ever before. Flex your muscles, grill up some steaks and celebrate those fight for the weak and those who make us stronger. Life is all about balance, yin and yang, soft and hard, moms and dads. Happy Father’s Day from all of us at Bodylogix.
